The Gravitas Of The Media
These people are so full of theirselves I do not know how they are able to tear away from the mirror long enough to go to a White House news conference. It is obvious that Roberts considers it appropriate to be nothing more than an ankle biting critic of the Presidency with nothing of substance to contribute to the dialogue. He attempts to trivialize the Presidency rather than asking appropriate questions about the nomination of Judge Alito. The original networks fail to make the connection between their partisan politics and the departure of their viewer base.
This question qualifies as the Official Big Bubba Dumb Press Question of the Day.

It seems that today's news reporters have been spending so much time blogging over the the Democratic Underground that they've lost their ability to treat and speak about the government of the most powerful nation on earth with the respect it deserves. They've also seem to think that the members of the media constitute a better class of people than civil servants, for obviously, they ARE just servants, aren't they? Sloppy seconds, wink, wink, bang the help, ehh what?

"Sloppy seconds"? I'm getting all sorts of images from that one.
And the verification letters here are fqkswbyv
What do you make of that?
Joe Wilson played patriotic martyr for the National Press Club on CSPAN today. He talked solemnly about his diplomatic credentials for the mission to Niger, his experience as Ambassador to Iraq (pre-'91) and his friendly relations with the previous Junto's running Niger and Gabon.
He also made a case that the quantities of "yellow cake" uranium being sought by Iraq would have represented a 40% increase in production at the "French run" mining consortium in Niger, and how it would have been "impossible" for an "illegal" deal" to escape the attention of the "previous" Niger civilian government (since that was "his" area of expertise... the current Ambassador to Niger had already spoken to the "current" civilian government and gotten their denials).
And since there had been no "increase" in production oredered in the mines of Niger, there couldn't have possibly been any deal for a diversion of yellow cake to Iraq. Besides, he argued, the costs of production of uranium in Niger are "above market" and are kept operating only because the French government disdains having to pay lower prices to Canadians for yellow-cake.
But in making his argument, one must ask this question. Could a 40% diversion of yellow cake to Iraq be offset with a French purchase of Yellow Cake from other sources? What is France's record of fair and legal "arm's dealing" with the Iraqi's despite international sanctions? Aren't the French and Russian governments "infamous" for their arms embargo violations internationally?
And then one also has to wonder about Joe Wilson himself. He's been buddy-buddy with the dictators of Iraq and Africa for decades. He speaks "French" (one of his main qualifications for his so-called "mission" to Niger) and appears to be an ardent Francophile.
I certainly hope that the CIA/FBI have looked deeply into Joe Wilson's finances to see if he has received any "oil contracts" or similarly large financial rewards in the recent past. I suspect he might suffer from the "Galloway" disease.
