This Picture Especial For The Duck
Mr. Ducky, these are school buses that failed to move an inch to get people out of harms way. Never mind FEMA, the Federal government and President Bush. New Orleans government failed their citizens miserably. Below is a picture of Mayor Nagin who is now calling for the Feds to 'Get off your asses'.
".....need reinforcements, I need troops, man. I need 500 buses, man. We ain't talking about -- you know, one of the briefings we had, they were talking about getting public school bus drivers to come down here and bus people out here." --Ray Nagin, Mayor of New Orleans
Notice his repetitive use of the word man. He is quoted as telling the President, "I need everything." I think I am beginning to understand why the buses didn't move. The actions of the New Orleans defenders of public law and order is a whole 'nother story. Here's a little pearl of wisdom from former Drill Sergeant Big Bubba to upper management of the New Orleans police force - "the maximum effective range of an excuse is 0 meters." Your folks broke ranks and ran. No excuse. period.

And so the truth is evident for ALL to see. The mayor HAD all the busses he requested. Where are the calls for the mayor's dismissal? Where are the screams and cries of "incompetence"? Oh, that's right, he's a democrat. And since the mayor had lots of "good intentions" for his people, that's ALL that matters. The president did NOT have good intentions, therefore, we must have his head. "Off with head!" squawked the red duck.

The point is mr. ducky, all you care about is afixing blame to the "opposition" party. There's plenty of "blame" to be had. There's blame at the local, county, state and federal level. But mostly, there's blame to be had at the "individual" level. And THAT is where most of the blame belongs. There are no words in the Constitution that say the people have the right to be "taken care of by the government", in sicness and in health. Life, Liberty, the Pursuit of Happiness are ALL that is promised. And unfortunately, the right NOT to pursue happiness. The right to sit on your 'can', and blame "others" for your "misery". I'd call it, sitting on your "can't".

ps - and mr ducky... you have a "gutter" idealogy. And my religion, keeps me OUT of it.
-FJ
I don't think it is gutter ideology, Farmer John, it is rather gutter intellect. The point, Mr. Ducky, is that the city of New Orleans chose not to use their school buses to evacuate their poor citizens who lacked transportation. They herded them into the Superdome where there were no supplies whatsoever to attend to the basic needs of their citizens. The school bus picture showed well more than one hundred vehicles that could have been used. One estimate is that New Orleans had the resources to move 20,000 plus citizens.
Louisiana Emergency Operations Plan:
5. The primary means of hurricane evacuation will be personal vehicles. School and municipal buses, government-owned vehicles and vehicles provided by volunteer agencies may be used to provide transportation for individuals who lack transportation and require assistance in evacuating.
As for "gutter religion" it is a contemptible remark beneath my dignity to respond to in any way.
I think it's quite telling that on the political sites, the conservatives are blaming the NoLA government while the liberals are blaming feds/Bush. So in the interest of fairness, let's blame NoLa/Navin for before the hurricane and FEMA/Bush for the aftermath.
Who drew first norm?
The Republican's are "reacting". As usual.

Norm, should we invest millions in another Congressional investigation or in alleviating the suffering. Wouldn't we all save alot of time and money if people simply took responsibility of what they did, right or wrong, and what will be done better next time.
I am at this very moment watching Joe Lieberman and some Maine Republican gal having a political blathering contest on Fox News. This whole "congressional investigation" game is nothing more than a political beauty contest with the taxpayers coming in last place.
Mr. Ducky, I saw Cousin George smiling on TV today. There have even been unverified reports that he has been sleeping in a bed at night and eating three meals a day. Pretty heartless stuff, eh Duck. Make sure that you have your tinfoil hat tuned up for further transmissions.
Why the duck quacked.
Great Mississippi flood of 1927
The KKK and the "strong arm" Lousiana authorities "forcibly" put many displaced blacks to work on the levee's around NO (the mythology of the left says).
The event was immortalized by Memphis Minnie in 1929, and re-released in a song by Led Zeppelin in 1971. Of course, Zep changed the lyrics and "mysteriously" added the lines "going to Chicago", which wasn't in the "original".
If it keeps on rainin', levee's goin' to break,
If it keeps on rainin', levee's goin' to break,
When The Levee Breaks I'll have no place to stay.
Mean old levee taught me to weep and moan,
Lord, mean old levee taught me to weep and moan,
Got what it takes to make a mountain man leave his home,
Oh, well, oh, well, oh, well.
Don't it make you feel bad
When you're tryin' to find your way home,
You don't know which way to go?
If you're goin' down South
They go no work to do,
If you don't know about Chicago.
Cryin' won't help you, prayin' won't do you no good,
Now, cryin' won't help you, prayin' won't do you no good,
When the levee breaks, mama, you got to move.
All last night sat on the levee and moaned,
All last night sat on the levee and moaned,
Thinkin' 'bout me baby and my happy home.
Going, go'n' to Chicago,
Go'n' to Chicago,
Sorry but I can't take you.
Going down, going down now, going down.
The result... a political tidalwave of blacks moved to the democratic party. Huey "Kingfish" Long elected governator of Louisiana as the local authorities had born "responsibility" for the tragedy and supposed "abuses" of blacks.
Methinks me smells a "Queenfish" behind this.
